James Sullivan - Town Supervisor

James Sullivan for Town Supervisor

For our town with the villages and a vision for moving forward!

I have been a resident of the Town of Saratoga for 40 years and am a graduate of Schuylerville Central School, Adirondack Community College, The State University of New York Environmental Science and Forestry College and Syracuse University and am currently completing my Master of Public Health at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine.

I have been locally employed for the past 17 years as an environmental scientist working on environmental contamination issues across New York State, from Buffalo to New York City and everywhere in between.

In 2009, I was elected Mayor of the Village of Victory working to consolidate the Village into the Town, I served in this position until 2013.  I also served on the Schuylerville-Victory Board of Water Management as an Ex officio member of the board. While on the water board I worked to help steer the board to improving infrastructure, keep an eye on our drinking water quality and keep our water bills affordable.  In the position as Mayor, I gained firsthand knowledge on specific Village and Town issues and worked closely with the community and other elected officials inside and outside of our community. I also helped to create budgets for the village board and board of water management, I served as a member of the Hudson Hoosic Partnership, which helped restore the Dix Bridge, establish a trail system to the area and fund the Champlain Canal Region Gateway Visitor's Center in Schuylerville.

I currently attend, participate in, and keep up on issues discussed in Town Board meetings, and have done this in the past 15 years. I often try to comment and contribute to such meetings when attending in person or when they were online during the pandemic.

I have great pride in all that the Town of Saratoga Board, both past and present, have accomplished and if elected, will continue to contribute to these great achievements. I am a fiscally conservative, forward-thinking, progressive Democrat that will work with all parties. I have a passion for helping people and am confident that every decision I make will be for the greater good of the community. I currently serve on the Climate Smart Schuylerville Community. In the past 20 years and from time to time I have been involved with the Albany Medical Center Volunteer program, Meals on Wheels, Northeast Regional Food Bank and the Schuylerville Community Theater. I have been a participant in New York State Adopt-A-Highway Program for 24 years.

I ask kindly that you consider me for your vote on election day.
